Alessandra Williams Bobbin Servers, Jacaranda Wood
Alessandra Williams creates tactile, hand made objects and artworks for the home.
These servers are inspired by the shapes of antique turned wooden stools, headboards and banisters seen during Alessandra's travels.
Produced with Asili, who are bridging the gap between design and traditional African crafts.
Each set of servers are hand carved from Jacaranda wood by a fairtrade certified co-operative in Nairobi. The jacaranda pieces are finished using a traditional process of smoking the wood over fire to achieve it’s deep rich colour, it is then oiled to finish for a beautiful buttery hand feel.
Jacaranda is a fast growing wood, the pieces used to create these servers are sustainably sourced, making use of offcuts from larger carving projects.
Care: Do not soak in water, wash with a soft sponge and gentle soap, dry thoroughly after cleaning. after extended use, rehydrate the wood using a food safe wood oil. store in a dry place.
